Sohail Inayatullah's "What Works" is an invaluable addition to the literature on Critical Futures Studies. The volume is centred on case studies, with each illuminating various problems in application, as well as successes. For those wishing to apply the kinds of analytical processes that are featured in Critical Futures Studies, this book is very useful indeed. Unlike a previous reviewer, I found the text to be lucid and well-written (though I have not read all cases outlined). Sohail Inayatullah uses language that is accessible to non-professional futurists, and this is a strength of all his work.Product details

Imayatullah is a futurist who is proactive in the making of policies as well as studying policies involving the future. In short, this not an arid or ethereal futures book. Rather, he is a practical futures scholar. The editing job on his essays is just awful. His book needs editorial assistance on word selection, punctuation and sometimes opaque paragraphs as well. I found some of his ideas very applicable to some policy thinking I have been doing.
